Studio Ceramics
This section covers pots which have not quite left the realm of functionality. Paradigm jugs , jars and vases: can be used or enjoyed as empty vessels. Atmospheric glazes evoke particular places or points in time.
When the maker has put in the time to study and practice with a material; pushed it to its limits and been pushed back by it; the interaction is equal, intention becomes intuition. There is no need to use verbal interpretation. The pot is how it is. Refreshing simple.
Sculptural
Sculptural work investigates the limits of the physical properties of thrown clay by
throwing off center, opening forms and turning turning them inside out, cutting and building with thrown slabs.
