RAKU KILN BUILDING AND FIRING MASTERCLASS WITH PENNY WITHERS AND MIKE SCOWN
Three consecutive Saturdays: 5th, 12th and 19th March 2016
- Learn about the processes and chemistry involved in low-temperature firing techniques
- Build a cost-free kiln entirely from recycled materials
- Make your own pots and help to raku fire them
Decorate a handmade raku pot and participate in the firing of a propane gas fired ‘trash can’ kiln. Make your own pinch or coil pot to be fired later
Build a wood fired kiln from common house bricks, decorate your pinch pot using one of a variety of glazes and finishes
Fire the kiln using scrap wood and see your pots emerge fully-formed from the smoke.
